SEPTEMBER UPDATE (posted 07 Oct 10)
Myself and June Allen have just recently returned from our trip to Manipur. We were initially very encouraged and blessed by a lovely couple in Delhi who allowed us to stay with them en route from and to Manipur.
Our time in the town of LAMKA was very successful and it was a time of good fellowship and encouragement for us all. It was June's first visit and for her the experience was a true 'revelation' over and above any photos and words could describe.
The accommodation block is well underway, the work being hampered by the heavy rainfall that they have experienced. Hopefully, the rains will soon stop and the work will progress more quickly.
Here are a few photos taken on our trip. You can also see more photos by visiting Derek Peterson's facebook - under HFT photos.

AUGUST UPDATE.......
We have just received some photos showing the up to date situation on the accommodation block - there were quite a number of them so we've chosen just a few...........
JULY update - posted 11 July 2010)
Once again we can report that the work on the accommodation block is continuing although not always at the rate we would like it to. One of the major problems around this time of year is the heavy rain, which of course slows things down considerably. The following pictures give a sense of where the building was at on 30th June 2010.

Work continues on the accommodation block. Suan has sent a number of pictures and I have published a few of them below in order to give an update of where the building is at.

At Pic 3 you will see that the workers have had to resort to using a rickshaw to move some of the earth around - thus slightly reducing the backbreaking work.
(Previous update - posted 10 Feb 2010)
Work is now underway on our second permanent building. This is the first of the accommodation blocks (proposed plans and picture can be seen in link Home & Welcome / The Project). A lot of work has been done on the foundations and we are now constructing the pillars for the main support structure.

The guys in these pictures have to do virtually everything involved in building this project by hand, the work is very laborious and time consuming. Regrettably here in Pearsonmun there is not the luxury of heavy lifting equipment, cement mixers, bulldozers etc. so you will appreciate that all the tasks - particularly something like ground clearance - takes much longer than it would in the UK for example.
