The HOPE FOUNDATION TRUST PROJECT  started out life as Hope for the Future simply because we wanted to be able to offer some hope to people that had very little in life and no-one to turn to for help.

As things began to develop we felt that God was directing us to establish a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre in the Lamka area of Manipur. In so doing we would be able to offer shelter and support and ultimately give hope to people who had been affected by Drug and Alcohol abuse.

The completed Project will offer all or at least most of the following:-

1. Clean and comfortable accommodation.      

2. Good quality nourishing meals.  

3. Support of trained staff. 

4. Access to medical staff and facilities.

5. Access to trained counsellors.

6. Teaching of Life Skills.

7. Facilities to aid Spiritual welfare.     

8. Visits from relatives  and friends.  

9. Educational & Training facilities.

10. Employment within the Project.       

11. Training & Preparation for future employment. 

12. Social, Welfare & Recreational Facilities.

There was no doubt about it - the idea was a good one, but when Derek visited the Project site for the first time in March 2007 - his only real thought was how is this going to be possible. All he could see was a mass of bamboo trees and a terraine that appeared fairly unfriendly - particularly when it came to building permanent structures.

The first part of the Implemation Strategy could be written down in a few lines:

Clearance of the site, construction of roads, building a security fence, constructing a number of permanant buildings (admin buildings, residential quarters etc), providing water supply, drains etc. etc.

Not a problem !!!!!!  After all we've got a piece of land, three interested people in India, one or two interested folk in the UK and no money.
